Why Take Action?

  • Local seed gives honor and respect to local wisdom and culture, and revitalizes the ancient Balinese philosophy and practices of Tri Hita Karana.
  • Local seed provides resilience to local farmers, food communities and consumers because local seed is better adapted to local conditions, including those produced by climate change.
  • Local seed provides farmers with accessibility to a key determining factor to successful food production in Bali, at lower costs and with dependable supply.
  • Local seed production provides special opportunities for women, who have traditionally held the intuitive skills to responsibly and creatively manage the art of seed saving.
  • (Specific issues related to local food security and food sovereignty will be added in SOON.)
